Received these books in the post with some of my work in. I also found out my work is being featured alongside Sagmeister, Non-Format, ilovedust, Hunt Studio and Bunch among others in the soon to be released book "Imprint".

B&W Studio

For the past seven months I have been busy working as a designer at B&W Studio based in Leeds, working with numerous clients on a wide range of jobs including high-street retailer 'Republic' and the major charity 'British Heart Foundation'.

Initially starting out as a month long placement I was asked to come back (again and again till I was hired) and help out till my finger drop off from sheer exhaustion or they run out of things to do. Luckily as most placements turn out, you sometimes don't see projects through to print or a finished stage. However due to the length of time I have been there I was able to see through many projects including a fashion look book which I shall add to my portfolio soon.

I am now available for freelance work and full time employment, so if you have something that needs designing, don't hesitate to contact me.

Raw Design Studio

Recently for the last month I have been working in sunny Salford at Raw Design Studio, located at the Islington Mill Studios - their studio used to be home to the Ting Tings.

Personally working on projects that I love has been such a bonus to this placement, being able to create layouts and designs for a newsprint directory/newsletter that soon will be produced in limited exclusive numbers.

It's been a great few weeks and I'm looking forward to my next placement at B&W Studio in Leeds.

Smiling Wolf

One of my shorter placements in Liverpool at Smiling Wolf. Working out of the biggest studio I have been in, I worked on a major studio project helping put together the initial stages for a project that some-day might rival the likes of spotify and wikipedia for music.

Work Placement at Reform

I have just completed a work placement at Reform in Manchester. Starting on very short notice at the beginning of December I was there till the end of January, and hopefully will go back soon in the future.

Working there for 2 months I worked on numerous projects including winning pitches for an University prospectus, magnetic flyers, websites, branding and posters.

Thanks for the experience, I am very grateful.

I am now free to contact for placements and jobs.

Work Placements

I spent 5 weeks in Leeds working at Vast on numerous projects including, web based design print work and retouching. Lots of retouching.

The best thing about working at Vast by all means was having the opportunity to design huge vinyl signage and see it in location.

I completed this as well as movable signage and smaller vinyls for other windows.

I am currently looking for jobs and work placements in the design industry so if you know of any please contact me!

Updates

Well as updates go. Its been a month since my last post.

However this section of my website is deicated to new about projects. You can find out more about what I am doing and other things on my blog —

blog.maaku87.co.uk

New York
I went I saw I came back.
New York was pretty amazing as you can expect, took thousands of photos digital as well as on film. So I have a project in the works based upon New York, enough for even two projects.
One of the major agencies that I visited was KarlssonWilker, a personal favourite I have admired for a while. So getting the chance to meet them was something I couldnt miss out on!

Back to School
The few weeks back from holiday were not the most productive with one project being completed and another short project too.
Whilst those need to be printed and photographed they will be up on my website soon.

Work Placement
As mentioned on my blog I am currently on a 2 week work placement in Manchester. Which is a double bonus as it will be ticking a few boxes, having experience, doing another project I can use for my final major as well as my second assignment for my 'Professional Development'.
I also have managed to get another 2 week placement in the summer in Liverpool in a much larger agency, so I am looking forward to that.

Still busy, busy, busy with lots of work and things going on keep an eye on my blog for current updates, and more work on my website soon.

New Website running on Cargo

After setting up my website over a year ago, initially I wanted a blog, however over time I realised the method used of displaying my work probably wasnt the best, as a quick look through the statistics showed that people spent less than 30 seconds on the site, and did not browse through all the images.

I came across Cargo through www.effektivedesign.co.uk.

It proves to be a very simple and easy method of web design, all done through your browser. I highly recommend it.

So welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay.
